Bertrand Carrier has been a tourism Consultant since 1995. During the last 15 years he worked for several small, medium and large French outbound tour operators such as Cheval d’Aventure, Azoka, Hommes et Montagnes, Arvel, Nouvelles Frontieres, Cosmopolite Tours and Atalante. Nature observation, exploration, trekking and hiking, wildlife, active and cultural trips, ecotourism and indigenous communities, are all key interests of Bertrand.

In 2008, with Régis Biron & Matthieu Kruker, he founded AMAROK-l'esprit nature, a french tour operator focusing on natural environment respect & observation. "It is our conviction that sharing simple and intense moments in nature immersion is one of the best ways to raise awareness of its respect and of its inhabitants"

He has recently joined the Dutch Foreign Affair Ministry's - CBI Export Coaching Programme Tourism 2008-2014 - as their French market external expert, supporting & advising inbound tour operators from developing countries how to market themselves in Europe.

In Sweden for almost 5 years, he organises incentive trips for major French companies, with a "Natural touch". Over those last years he has built an important network and offers outdoor trips around Sweden to individual as well as group.

Bertrand has also been the author of several publications such as:
- "Respect of the Desert", an initiative of major French adventure tour operators to sensitize travellers to the Sahara.
- "Tourism and Desert”: a UNEP initiative to help tour operators and other recreation professionals manage their social and environment impacts. He has been a major advisor in the writing of the same guide series: "Tourism and Mountain".

In Australia were he lived for 4 years, Bertrand has been an expert of the French market, bringing some new business to local inbounds and creating some new opportunities for French outbound tour operators in the Oceania region.

The CBI, Centre for the Promotion of Imports from developing countries, an agency of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands, aims to assist companies from developing countries in making an entry or enlarging their exports on the EU markets.
For this purpose it has developed a wide range of support programmes. The CBI’s work is financed by the Dutch government which means participation costs are limited.
The CBI was founded in 1971. Its many years of experience and its extensive international network make the CBI one of the most important centres of expertise in export marketing and export management from developing countries.

Especially the market for long-haul tourism revolves around the relationships between inbound and outbound tour operators. Finding the right partners and getting in touch with them is not easy. Furthermore, the European market is complex and fragmented. Determining which geographical market and which market segment to target is not an easy job either. The CBI ECP for Tourism with the assistance of external tourism expert helps to resolve these issues and gives the opportunity to benefit from the growing European market for tourism!
